At Rest
April 5th: Eve Airey, 8 Manor Lane - aged 72 years
For the seventeen years she had lived in the village, Eve had been very involved with many of the local organisations - Secretary of the P.C.C., member of the W.I., representative on the Deanery Synod and also gave a great deal of her time to the running of the Sunday School. She will be greatly missed by the children and her many friends.

It is with great sadness that I have to report that Martin died in hospital during the night of 13th September. Martin lived in Harlaston for over 40 years before moving to a residential home to be nearer his sister, Meg.
He was always very much involved in the life of the church. He and Eve started the Sunday School which ran until the mid-eighties. Many of our children will have happy memories especially of the outings and the pantomimes at the Garrick that Eve and Martin organised, and us parents the annual nativity plays in the church. Eve died in 1995, but Martin continued to be heavily involved with the church, he was the secretary of the PCC for 20 years; he became a reader and assisted at Holy Communion, he was a Prayer Leader and held a monthly meeting at his home. He also attended Swinfen Prison for young offenders most weeks which furnished him with many a tale. We will miss him. Martin is to be cremated at Fradley Crematorium on Tuesday October 2nd at 11:30 am followed by a memorial service at St. Matthew's Harlston at 12:30 pm.
