July 21st Dr Derek BossÂ
Aged 76 years
It is with great sadness to hear of the sudden death of Dr Derek Boss. Derek was a partner in the Hollies Medical Practice in Tamworth having trained at Birmingham Medical School. He was a popular, caring doctor highly regarded by patients and colleagues alike. Derek moved with his family to Yew Tree House, Harlaston on December 31st 1983.
He immediately became involved in village matters, firstly with the Save Our School Campaign, then became a founding member of the Village Hall Committee, becoming Chairman, he set up and ran the 100 club which continued for 35 years. He supported the Open Gardens, a major fundraiser for the village.
Sadly in 2021 he was diagnosed with a progressive lung condition leading to increased breathlessness. He died suddenly in Burton Hospital on 21st July. We offer our condolences to Viv, Kay, Jo and Chris.

It is with great sadness that we all said, "Goodbye" to Derek Boss, who sadly passed away on Sunday 21st July 2024.
Derek was a founder member of the Village Hall Committee, helping to riase funds to buy and then maintain the Village Hall. He ran the 100 Club and served in many positions including as Chairman and Vice Chairman. We will miss his sense of humour, his dedication and his determination to make a positive change to the village of Harlaston. He was the best of men.
