May Brown
Harlaston Rectory
September 1986
My dear Friends,
Gloom was cast over the parishes when the news broke that out dear friend and fellow worshipper, May Brown, had passed away peacefully at the Good Hope Hospital.
Life had not always been kind to Mrs. Brown. Despite the fact that she had to bear the loss of a son in an accident and despite the fact that she endurred recurring illnesses, she never once lost her faith nor reduced the quality of her witness.
We are all going to miss her more than words can tell, both in Church and also abroad in the parishes, and the congregation on the morning of her funeral revealed the esteem in which she was held.
In the letter to the Hebrews, the writer speaks of being surrounded by "so great a cloud of witnesses". Well in that cloud of witnesses will be Mrs. Brown, who has valiantly carried the torch of faith so wonderfully in her time.
