Harlaston Parish Council
The Role of Parish Councils
As a tier of local government, parish councils are elected bodies with limited discretionary powers and rights, laid down by Parliament, to represent their communities and to provide services to them.
Parish councils, as the tier of government that is closest to local communities, have a central role to play in improving local quality of life.
Details of Harlaston Parish Council, including your local parish Councillors and details of meetings can be found on the Harlaston Parish Council website:
Suggestion box:
There is a new suggestion box next to the village notice board. If anyone in the village has any suggestions, please leave a comment in the box and the Parish Council will discuss it at the next Parish Council meeting.
A special thank you is extended to the Parish Council and Councillors for purchasing and displaying the D Day Operations flag. We don't think any service personell from the village were lost at that time but the late Mrs Fox's nephew was killed on D Day.
Parish Magazine September 2024
The Parish Council have recently installed two self-closing gates at the footpath exit on the Village Green. These have replaced the old wooden stiles and will make access for people and dogs a lot easier! We probably will be replacing more stiles in future to make access to local footpaths easier.
We are still in the process of getting some Speed Indication Devices installed at each end of the village. Applications have been submitted to Staffordshire Highways, and we are awaiting their replies. Funds have been allocated for these; we just need posts installing and then we can fit the devices and hopefully this will help with the excess speeding in the village.
If anyone has any suggestions for future projects or improvements we can make to our village, please contact the Parish Council. Also, if anyone notices any damage to property we are responsible for, please let us know so it can be dealt with.
The Parish Council is running a second defibrillator training after our successful one two years ago.
The evening is open to all, there is no charge, and tea and coffee will be served. The date is 7th October starting at 7 pm in Harlaston Village Hall.
Please do try and attend this training, letting Adrian Stubley know so catering can be arranged.
The Parish Council would like to say a huge thank all involved in the Church Cafe.
The coffee and cake mornings have been a huge success.
