Jenny and her giants set for show
Tamworth Herald Friday July 14th 1989
Shire Horse enthusiast Jenny Rowe takes on the ambitious task of transporting all six of her horses to the Alrewas Show tomorrow.
Jenny, from Fish Pitts Farm, Harlaston, is attempting to take all of her four legged-friends to the show for the first time - while other exhibitors are likely to be displaying up to just four horses.
"If she managed to get them all there it will be quite an achievement," said Cliff Green, show secretary.
Jenny begins the massive job of preparation on Friday night, when she, with her helpers, cleans out the horses and then brings them up to standard on the day of the show.
Transportation will then involve three trips as her horse box can only carry two adult horses at a time.Â
Jenny keeps Shire Horses as a hobby and bought her first one, Briar Queen, five years ago from well-known shireman, the late Jos Holland. It's foal, Wishaw Briar Rose, was named as a result of a competition ran in the Herald's Scooper Club page.
Her other shires are Wishaw Rainbow, Wishaw Charlie Girl, Trustley Brook Anne and Briar Rose's first foal, Wishaw King William.
The horses will be on display at the show in Daisy Lane, Alrewas.
