Awards mark Indoor Bowls successes

Harlaston Indoor Bowls Club - 

There were 90 members and friends at the annual presentation evening held at Harlaston Village Hall on Saturday. An excellent buffet supper was provided by the lady members, and music by the Bryans Band contributed to a very enjoyable evening.The raffle made £138.00

The Chairman, Mr Neil Alsop, organised the presentation of the trophies, and the winners were:

Joyce Clarke Memorial Cup for the ladies singles competition, presented by Aubrey Clarke. Winner Sheila Brown; Runner-up, Muriel Miles.

Roger Mercer Trophy for mens' singles, presented by Evan Mercer. Winner Neil Alsop; Runner-up, Alan Thomas.

Dunnimere Shield for mixed singles competition, presented by Harold Duggins. Winner Alan Thomas; Runner-up, Ron Parkes.

White Lion Trophy for the mixed doubles competition, presented by Mrs Muriel Howell. Winners Bill Eastwood and Roy French; Runners-up, Brenda Dalton and Muriel Miles.

Robert Hidderley Shield for the triples competition, presented by Mrs Gina Hidderley. Winners Shiela Brown, Brenda Dalton and Ron Parkes; Runners-up, Jeanne Warrilow, Michael Grove and Stuart Robinson.

The following afternoon the annual ladies v gents competition was held, and as usual was very keenly contested with the men being the eventual winners of the Winterdyne Cup, presented by Mr Neil Alsop to Aubrey Clarke, the mens' captain
