Harlaston Cricket Club General Meeting

From the Tamworth Herald 1926

A meeting of Harlaston Cricket Club was held in the Pavillion, Harlaston, last week. There was a good attendance. The Rev. T.R.P. Thorman (vicar of Croxall), who presided, pointed out that the club, although it had been formed as recently as last November, had made great headway. A temporary committee had worked hard to raise the greater part of the necessary funds for inaugurating the club.

It was decided that persons living in the parishes of Clifton Campville, Croxall, Edingale, Haselour, Harlaston and Wigginton were eligible for membership of the club.

The secretary read the statement of the club's financial position to date. This was considered very satisfactory for such a newly-formed club.

An attractive list of fixtures for the coming season has been arranged, there being one date still open- July 3.

The Chairman, on behalf of all the members of the club, expressed gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Jones of Haselour Grange, who had shewn such a kindly interest in the club, and who had granted the free use of one of his fields. On this field work has already commenced. A pitch has been fenced and rolled, and there is every indication of a fine wicket.

The following officers of the club were elected:- President, Mr. H. de Trafford; captain, Rev. T.R.P. Thorman; vice-captain, Mr. A. Duggins; secretary, Mr. T.H. Wilson; treasurer, Mr. A. Latham; management committee, Revs. T.R.P. and F.P. Thorman, Messrs. L. and P. Mercer, A. Latham, T. Richardson, H.J.Wilday, C. Crook, Curzon, Tebbetts and T. Wilson; Trustees, Messers. C Carter, H. Carter and F. Haskew.
